I finally took the plunge this week and purchased an iBurst account and PC-Card for my laptop.  I can believe how good it is and how simple it was to setup and use.  I am surprised more people havent taken this particular technology up yet (definately still in early adopter phase).  Admittedly I can’t use it at home (where I have DSL anyway) due to coverage reasons and the download allocation isnt massive (500MB/month), but it’s so perfect for road warriors like me that travel between capital cities.  I am shocked that this isnt yet considered an essential part of the toolkit that most employers provide to mobile/field staff.

I am typing this in the Qantas departure lounge at Sydney airport (heading home) and I am also IM’ing to a colleague regarding an assignment we are both working on.  Best of all, no new WiFi configurations and credit cards to deal with each week.  My expenses for broadband in hotels and airports for the last few months have been between $100 and $250 per month.  My iBurst card costs $50/month and has 1Mb connectivity in most of the areas I work in.  I am actually saving my employer money by using this and I get more connectivity and more productive time.

Well, I had better run, they are calling my flight to board now.  Ciao’

B
